Default Tome Trader

Yes, It would make HM less useful. But the tomes from the trader would be way over priced. Making the price on Tomes not so unstable.
It would also reduce the time for someone waiting to get that 1 elite tome they need to finish a build and waiting for an hour and then finding out you don't have enough cash for it.

(would kill HM but would be worth it.)

I don't really think it would kill Hard Mode.

Booooooo. Completly take out the use of skill trainer and capping for skills and the rarity of getting one in HM.

Ooooo.. so impatient... you sound like an Ursan.

You can always find someone selling the tome you need. A little interaction in the human population is healthy.

Yeah, cause hopping back and forth between towns for four hours just to buy what I needed was a productive waste of my time; time that I'd rather spend playing.

This is why we need a plethora of new sellers (inscriptions and weapon mod sellers come to mind).

Some people really do not enjoy spamming "WTB/WTS" for hours on end. It's boring and annoying when you'd rather just play. But hey, whatever floats your boat.

A thread about this exact same thing came up like 2 months ago. It's just not going to happen. Just go play HM, you get tons of tomes.

Its not the fact that I don't like HM I do. And am waiting for the nerf to Ursan. But standing in a place all day just doesn't sound like fun. But that's meh 2 cents. Which doesn't get you much now a days.

I don't see why this could be detrimental. Buying from players will still always be cheaper.

Hmm yea, while we're at it, can we have green traders? And maybe like crystalline sword traders? And hey, while we're at it, let's add ALL the skins to traders, so we always know what the relative price is!!!!111 /sarcasm/

l33t trader=phail
normal trader= less phail, but still phail

Not that I don't think that it would be a useful addition to the already plentiful NPC merchants, but I don't think ANet will implement it.

It would be great to be able to go to the nearest town/outpost, and hit up a merch to buy weapon mods/scrips and tomes. It would save time, which is what I believe the OP was indicating when he started the thread.

Yes, there would be a bit of a price drop. I'm not sure how much, but the prices would drop. It is always cheaper to buy from a player than a merchant, and always more profitable to sell to a player than a merchant. But, if you really, REALLY needed that Tome or Elite Tome, wouldn't it be worth paying a few gold extra to snag it right away instead of waiting in LA/KC/Kama trolling the WTS posts and spamming WTB posts.

That being said, I wouldn't look for this to be added to the game. Why? Because other than the sake of convenience, it doesn't really affect the game. The one thing it *could* do would be to stabilize the price of Tomes, but, more than likely, they would be stabilized at a slightly lower rate, and as they say "If it ain't broke, don't fix it"; why would ANet do something that had a greater possibility, no matter how slight, to reduce the player-to-player economy of the game? Answer: they won't.

if tomes were cheaper than the skill, it would remove a huge money sink for anet. now if they traded elite tomes and didn't allow normal tomes to go below 1k, that would solve both problems.

not sure how i feel about this.

Why would anyone buy a tome for 1k or more? The entire purpose of a tome is to get skills for cheaper than the trader, and if you have a skill unlocked, it is at every trader of that campaign that the skill is part of for 1k.

Play HM or trade. Tomes were created with the intention in mind that people would trade with each other for them.

Never heard of the Party search feature? Believe it or not, people have finally learned how to use it and DO look at it these days! It takes a degree of patience, but it beats district hopping.

why wouldn't you just add elite skills to the regular skill trainer?
